Known and Suspected Tank Sites as of June 2000
State law allows owners of old tank sites to receive benefits from the Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund if the property was reported to the Department of Natural Resources by December 31, 1997, and if the tanks were out of use by that date. (If the tanks were in service after that date, the owner must buy an insurance policy from the PSTIF and have coverage when making a claim.)
This list was prepared in 1999-2000, and contains all tank sites that could be documented at that time as having been reported to the Department of Natural Resources. It is not a current list of tank sites, nor does it reflect current data for sites insured by the PSTIF.
Please note: The fact that a property does or does not appear in this database cannot be construed as a determination that it is or is not eligible for PSTIF benefits. Rather, this list is provided as a service to the public, and does not represent any official position or determination by the Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund. Nor can this information be used to determine whether there are or were tanks located on a particular property, whether any environmental impact exists or existed in the past, or whether the tank owner has complied with any state regulations. The PSTIF makes no representation, express or implied, as to the accuracy of the data.
The list contains information submitted by many people over many years. Though efforts have been made to eliminate duplicate listings, many still exist, due to properties being referred to by different names or addresses over time.
We hope this information is helpful. You may call PSTIF at 800-765-2765 with specific questions about individual properties.
